Memorization
Memory is a system to store and recall information.
Every time we learn something, we have the ability to store the
information in our mind so that we can use it later. By learning
strategies for memorization and by understanding how to apply the
information, individuals can enhance their ability to retain information.
Information is taken in through our senses. It then
goes into short-term memory where an individual has the ability
to store the information for a short period of time and determine
if the information will be retained for later use. If we choose
to retain the information, we must review it and repeat it in order
to store it in long-term memory. Information in long-term memory
can remain with us through our entire lives.
