Rights & Responsibilities
Rights of the Student
- To not be denied access due to a disability.
- To receive reasonable and appropriate accommodations
that provide equal opportunity.
- To have access to auxiliary aids and assistive
technology.
- To not be counseled toward a "more restrictive
career program."
- To receive assistance from disAbled Student Services
in removing any physical, academic and attitudinal barriers.
- To not be discriminated against due to a disability
or receive any retaliatory discrimination.

Responsibilities
of the Student
- To self-identify the need for accommodations to
the disAbled Student Services Office.
- To maintain the same responsibility for their education
as do students without disabilities. This includes meeting and
fulfilling the same class requirements as all other students.
- To notify disAbled Student Services if accommodations
are not being implemented and/or disability-related needs are
not being met.
- To return completed Request for Academic Accommodation
forms to disAbled Student Services.
- To make arrangements for exam taking in the disAbled
Student Services Testing Center. This would include making a test-taking
appointment and providing the instructor with a Proctoring Checklist
in a time appropriate fashion.

Responsibilities
of the Disability Resource Center
- To collect disability documentation from students
and maintain it in a confidential and secure manner.
- To determine reasonable accommodations based on
the specific documentation of each student.
- To prepare Request for Academic Accommodation forms
that are to be reviewed and signed by the student, instructor
and Disability Resource Center staff member.
- To provide students with disabilities-related information
and assist in problem resolution.

Responsibilities
of the Faculty
- To cooperate with Disability Resource Center in
providing authorized accommodations and support to students.
- To refer the student to Disability Resource Center
if the student claims a disability and/or requests accommodations
without providing a Request for Accommodations form.
- To consult with Disability Resource Center if there
are questions or concerns about a required accommodation.

Faculty
are not responsible for:
- Providing accommodations if the student does not
present the Request For Accommodations form.
- Offering make-up exams or assignments if the student
does not identify until late in the semester. Accommodations need
to be provided only from the point of official notification.
- Requesting documentation.
