Mission and Philosophy

The mission of the college’s DSS program is to enable students with disabilities to maximize their potential for academic success by

• ensuring both physical and programmatic access to BCC,
• coordinating individual student needs with available support services and resources, and
• providing a supportive atmosphere that promotes self-reliance.

BCC is committed to access, academic excellence, student success, and leadership in the community. We support an environment that respects individual differences and assures equitable treatment within the college community. The philosophy of our Disabled Student Services (DSS) program is based on empowerment. We want students with disabilities to be as independent as possible. Whether students choose to use some or all of the available services is up to them.
