Career Development
The Career Development office provides information
on self-assessment, career exploration, planning, and job search
assistance. The office provides a setting where students can choose
a career path based upon their interests, aptitudes, skills, values,
and job-market data.
Workshops
are held each semester on topics such as career decision-making,
resume writing, job search strategies, and interviewing skills.
The Career Development office also sponsors two major programs each
year: Career Awareness Day
in the fall and a Job Fair
in the spring.
Career and Transfer Resource Center
The Career and Transfer Resource Center contains
books, periodicals, magazines, college catalogs, and other printed
material. BRIDGES, a
computerized career guidance system, provides assessment of student
interest and aptitudes and a listing of occupations for which they
may be best suited. Internet access is also available. Employment
opportunities are posted and include job openings with local
and regional employers. These postings contain full-and part-time
jobs, internships, and seasonal employment.
Students interested in transferring should consult
with the Transfer
Counselor. Students can also access BRIDGES
to do a college search, which provides information about colleges
that match their academic intentions.
